Katsina Ministry Meets on SBMC Elections, Seeks Better School Management

The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has held a meeting to review preparations for the election of School-Based Management Committees (SBMC) across the state.

The meeting, which took place on Friday at the State Secretariat, was aimed at strengthening the SBMC system to ensure transparency and community participation in the management of schools.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, was represented by the Director of Senior Secondary Schools, Hajiya Raliya Yusuf Jiba.

In her remarks, the representative of the Commissioner said the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education through active involvement of local communities in school administration.

She explained that participants discussed key issues, including the framework for the SBMC elections, new strategies for improving the committees’ performance, and ways to foster stronger collaboration between government, communities, and the SBMC.

Education directors, SBMC leaders, security personnel, and other stakeholders attended the session.

The meeting also featured a special prayer for the late Chairman of the Katsina State SBMC, Alhaji Bello Ciroma Ingawa, who was remembered for his contributions to education development in the state.
